![]() (The original story for this film was written by John Steinbeck) Definitely one of the most underrated Hitchcock outings. If you want to see 9 people in close quarters for 100 minutes, with a very subtle intensity looming, I’d give this a watch. Lifeboat is highly revered by Hitchcock loyalists but not by the casual fan. This 1944 attempt at a true ensemble piece. This film is full of excitement and action and it’s surprisingly well aged (considering it was his first talkie).Ī successful experiment yet again. (Also note that this film gained Hitchcock his one and only Oscar Win for an acting performance in his film: Joan Fontain)Īnother great film of Hitchcock’s early years. ![]() Keep in mind, Hitchcock wasn’t really getting respect for his work until the late 40’s. Though he would later expand upon the same foundation with more success, Suspicion stands out in its own way. One of Hitchcock’s first American Made films, and recognized as a very strong outing, this Romantic Thriller is vintage Hitchcock. The Lodger is when the world would realize that Hitchcock was a force to be recognized. This film is by far the strongest of his silent era, and though during it’s time there wasn’t a lot of film magic happening, it’s aged oddly well for being almost 90 years old. In my opinion, a hidden gem in the Hitchcock canon. Though it’s mostly a dark comedy, it has a thrilling undertone and a great romantic element that really kept me intrigued. ![]() This 1955 experiment of Hitchcock’s ended up being his funniest and most diverse project. This was his second shot at Technicolor (after Rope of 1948), and though it’s a weaker film, the shots came through much more smoothly and the two lead performances (Ingrid Bergman and Joseph Cotton) are very strong. ‘Under Capricorn’ is almost unrecognized when compared to some of Hitchcock’s other masterpieces, but I strongly believe this film contains some of his best storytelling. ‘The Man Who Knew Too Much’ is the one of the best films of Hitchcock’s British era (pre 1940) and Peter Lorre (star of the movie ‘M’) delivers big. The first stab at success of these tow great films, and mostly unrecognized due to the size and brilliance of its remake (which was released in 1956).

Mouse sensitivity measures the speed of response to input picked up by a mouse. ![]() DPI settings don’t stand alone and should be set with consideration of in-game mouse sensitivity. So for a player who prefers wrist movements to arm movements in gaming, a high DPI should be set as it produces desired response with fewer movements. The higher the DPI value, the faster the cursor transverses across the screen as more pixels are covered with one inch of movement. players can adjust these values via your PC settings or on the provided companion software of your gaming mouse. Certainly the format and structure of the planet info has been changed enough to break some older templates and maps as well. The template scripting can be pretty easily corrected (if you know the proper corection to be made) but the planet entry info has nuances that are not explained well or even at all on the forum. The two key areas where the major issues are are the appendage to the planet info part of the galaxy file and the other area is the template script itself. While GF allows template creation, it uses some of the old syntax and doesn't format properly. Mainly though, from my own experience, the various versions and betas introduced small changes to formatting in the galaxy files and over time there are enough variations to make proper template scripting a problem. When you zoom in really close to stars for precise planet placement-and especially on large maps-the cpu cycles the thing uses are ridculous. regarding GF, I am not a programmer but whatever engine drives the graphics for it is horrible. Thanks again to everyone who's responded so far! It's good to know that at least a few people other than myself can put this program to good use. The next update is going to add a few more ease-of-use features, and I hope to add the ability to use subfolders in a not-in-place conversion, so maybe that will attract some more attention. Oh, and yeah, I'm definitely going to bump this topic now and then. I do plan to create more utilities for SoaSE modding either way. I hate it so much that I've never been able to use it. Thanks a lot! Yeah, I've seen the GUI for Galaxy Forge. Notheless, Kudos again good sir! Kudos I say! Make a map in GF then use the appender to create and add a properly formated template (they are nicely at the very end of the simple text files). Broken templates, dated galaxy file syntaxes, incomplete or incorrect item lists-a major improvment there would be wonderful.and if that isn't a gui in need of a stylish makeover then their ain't one.Įven just developing an appender that adds templates to the raw galaxy files would be great. If you really want to get noticed and praised, come up with an improvement for Galaxy Forge (indeed, I drool at the thought)-they may make you the hero of the year for that. It is certainly bump worthy until someone pins it. Bump this now and then as it is hands down the best converter for the game. There are a lot of pretty teeny (and very trivial) posts now and then that push new threads down and I have found it takes awhile to get the knowlegeable base into a conversation sometimes. I think the modding community is significantly smaller than the visible player/poster base and something else pertinent may be that you posted during the great server reset and crash. I couldn’t believe that a man so devoted to his smartphone would return to an out-of-town hotel to retrieve a decorative lantern to use as a light source (does he not know there’s an app for that?). I couldn’t believe that a man too sensible to carry around a tube of super glue that he saw no immediate use for would solve problems so ludicrously. I couldn’t see it that way after the badge puzzle. The problem is that Moebius presents itself as a serious, grown-up drama. Those are hallmarks of the genre, and I’ve loved many a game that included those things. My issue here is not with backtracking and roundabout puzzles. Nope, he’s too busy communing with an underage ass, which has remained in tableau for the duration of however long it’s taken me to get to Lower Manhattan and back. Because surely, Phone Man won’t notice me positioning myself behind him after I stroll conspicuously across the plaza, nor will he hear the scissors snipping near the nape of his neck, nor will he feel the badge as it falls from his person. Like, say, going back to the apartment for a pair of kitchen scissors. Malachi informed me that I couldn’t pull the badge up over Phone Man’s head, as he’d be bound to notice. It genuinely didn’t occur to me that “create a distraction” meant “go bend over in front of that total stranger” until I was halfway through the conversation, but hey, what’s dignity matter when there’s a last-generation iPod up for grabs? Having successfully coerced a minor, my task was now to get the VIP badge from Phone Man, whose gaze was most definitely not on me. I head to Malachi’s apartment, get the MP3 player, then go back to the park to enlist my accomplice. The discarded MP3 player in Malachi’s bedroom! Seems like a bit of an out-of-the-way solution, and I’m not clear on what part the girl is supposed to play in all this, but we’re still within the realm of reason. Malachi notes her portable CD player, which he says indicates a lack of money. ![]() ![]() Having nothing on me that will assist, I talk to the teenager, who brushes me off. Malachi says we need a distraction in order to obtain it. Now, I’ve played enough games to know “don’t have a badge” translates as “go find a thing.” I direct my attention to two conspicuous NPCs - a man talking on a phone, and a teenage girl. I talk to the guard, who predictably tells me that I am not on the list and don’t have a badge. It’s a little aggravating when you see a tube of super glue you know you’re going to need later, but Malachi is a practical, no-nonsense man. Unlike most adventure games, which let you grab everything that isn’t nailed down, you can’t pick things up unless Malachi has an express purpose for them. Before I get into it, though, I need to explain how inventory works in Moebius. Though these quibbles started to grate at me, it was a puzzle that irrevocably broke the tone. I took one more step back from the story, constantly pausing to make hard saves. Not a big deal, but Malachi’s ambling pace made me reluctant to sit through scenes a second time, and it became clear that the crash was not an isolated incident (I encountered three game-breaking bugs along the way, too). But while the absence of auto saves wasn’t the end of the world, the lack of a quick save function did make me raise an eyebrow. I’ve become so accustomed to games saving automatically that it didn’t occur to me to consider otherwise. In a way, I feel a bit spoiled for assuming there would be. I imagined that for some players, this was going to be slashfic central. The writing was fun, the voice acting solid. It was a refreshing change, though perhaps a little goofy at times. They fell into a dynamic typically reserved for co-ed duos, complete with an air of will-they-or-won’t-they. He was eventually joined by David Walker, a chummy, punny ex-soldier with a fierce protective streak. His brand of acerbic genius will be instantly recognizable to anyone who has watched television in the last ten years, but I found his vocation enticing, and his snarkyness welcome. Malachi Rector is not a gumshoe, but an antiques expert, prone to quipping about decorating choices and bad replicas. The story intrigued me, as did the protagonist.
